Staff, Activities & Facilities
PHASE's Offices, Laboratory, Warehouse and Assembly area are located in the nice neighborhood of Barra da Tijuca. There are presently 12 people working at PHASE.
PHASE's main stock holder and Managing Director is Carlos Eduardo O. Capellão, who holds an Electronics Engineering degree from UFRJ and a MBA from FGV-Rio. He has worked many years for REDE GLOBO and SBT, the two major Brazilian TV Networks. In SBT he started as Chief Engineer of the Production Center in São Paulo and reached the position of General Manager of the Station owned by SBT in Rio, in a period of seven years of employment. He has also worked as an employee at TV Educativa, RADIOBRAS and EMBRATEL. The later is the major Brazilian Long Distance Communication Company.
Capellão is also the Industrial Director of the Brazilian Society of TV & Telecommunication Engineering - SET. Besides the technical studies, the Society publishes a Magazine, promotes Conferences, Technical Seminars and leads the DTV/HDTV Brazilian SET/ABERT Study Group. SET sponsors an annual Equipment Exhibit and Congress, the most important trade show for the TV Industry in Latin America.
Phase has adequate Sales and Support staffs to provide a good service to customers both commercially and technically.
For Technical Support Services PHASE has a well equipped Laboratory. PHASE also provides field services for installation, commissioning, maintenance and training.
It is part of PHASE's work to help the customers to import the equipment sold. As in this country the TV Stations have high fiscal benefits, in most cases the equipment sold is shipped directly from the Manufacturer to the Customer. The above peculiarity, with the addition of the local high taxes, duties and interest rates, make it impractical to stock imported equipment. Consequently the equipment dealer type retail operation is not very usual in Brazil.
PHASE, with the financial aid of the represented Companies, publishes ads of all the carried products in trade magazines on a regular basis. The company is also very active in trade shows and seminars.
PHASE stocks loaner back-up equipment and modules for some manufacturers. These back-ups are used as immediate replacements in cases of emergency. Considering the time consuming and bureaucratic Brazilian Customs, as well as the complex nature of most digital products, fast and effective local service is essential in this country.
Another important activity of PHASE is to prepare and render demonstrations to customers, usually using loaner equipment provided by the represented manufacturers.
Plans And Goals
During the last few years PHASE has increasingly focused its efforts in the Commercial Representation of leading TV and Telecomm equipment manufacturers. In the case of Telecomm we have been very successful with the deployment of video transport systems over Satellite and ATM Networks. Lately we have started to look closer at IP Contribution and Broadband Distribution, as the TV over DSL business is just starting in this country.
PHASE has recently been revising its line up of represented companies and products to keep improving its competitiveness, and to concentrate more on the new technologies and markets like : HDTV, Digital Telecommunications, Satellite, Digital MMDS, MPEG-2, Broadband, Video Digital Processing Equipment, Multi-Viewers and Monitoring Systems, Automation & Server Technology.
Our basic policy is to work with Manufacturers of top quality products, specially those that can benefit from PHASE´s main strengths like:
- Easy access and excellent contacts in all of the major customers.
- Full understanding of the products applications, systems integration and implementation.
- Good business reputation and technical credibility in the market.
- Local qualified technical support structure.
- Advice relative to the Brazilian importation procedures and international business policies.
- Marketing actions (ads, trade shows, demos, presentations, mailing, web, etc).
- Feedback in regards to the competitive scenario.
The major goal of PHASE is to assure Customer's satisfaction, offering good products and system solutions, being extremely competitive in terms of prices and providing the best possible local technical support.
